SMPN 30 Headmaster, Yusup Corua stated, students donate plants voluntarily. Total 155 plants are collected, consist of 40 bougainvillea plants, 87 sansevieria plants, 15 golden pothos plants, 5 cat whiskers plants, 2 aloe vera plants, 2 orange marigold plants, 1 piper betle plant, 1 miana plant, one white aglaonema plant, and 1 eternity plant (Zamioculcas zamifolia).
"It is up to them. There is a student who brings two plants, two students who are join to buy a plant and others. They are willing to bring plants to be planted at schools to support this movement," he explained, Tuesday (8/20).
According to him, there is no class that day since their school has just finished a total renovation. This moment is used to plant those crops in school area and students are enthusiastic to participate in it.
"We encourage them to plant more greens in order to reduce air pollution," he mentioned.
North Jakarta Education Sub-department Region 2 Head, Momon Sulaeman stated, movement to plant crops that have capability to absorb air pollutants are welcomed massively by students, especially elementary students.
"There are 80 percent of total 138 elementary students from public and private schools who are participated in this movement. While we are just starting to socialize it to junior and senior high school," he mentioned.
